TOWNS' NEAR THE APARTMENT
PUERTO BANUS
Five minutes drive down the hill from the apartment is Puerto Banús marina. It was built in May 1970 by José Banús, a local property developer, as a luxury marina and shopping complex. It has since become one of the largest entertainment centres in the Costa del Sol, with 5 million annual visitors, and is popular with international celebrities. Developed around a coastal village in the Mediterranean architectural style, Puerto Banús contains designer shopping, restaurants and bars around the marina.
MARBELLA OLD TOWN
Drive to the old town area of Marbella in under ten minutes.Â
The quaint Old Town is home to Renaissance-era whitewashed buildings, flower-draped balconies, and narrow, winding streets. Plaza de los Naranjos draws visitors with its orange trees, 15th-century Ermita de Santiago church, and restaurants with terraces, serving traditional dishes like gazpacho and meatballs. Avenida del Mar is a long, narrow plaza dotted with palm trees and bronze sculptures by Salvador DalÃ.
ESTEPONA
A palm-lined promenade, the Paseo MarÃtimo, runs next to the Playa de la Rada beach. Nearby are the restaurants and water sports facilities of Puerto Deportivo, plus a fishing port and the cove of Playa del Cristo. The whitewashed old town centers on the flower-filled square of Plaza de las Flores, home to the eclectic artworks of the Colección Garó. Fifteen minutes from the apartment by car.
BENAHAVIS
The centre of Benahavis is approximately 3 minutes’ drive; a beautiful Spanish village renowned for its excellent gastronomy. Known as ‘the dining room of the Costa del Sol’, Benahavis is home to a wide variety of restaurants serving the best of traditional Andalusian cooking, sourced from local ingredients. Some of the best food in Spain!
SOTOGRANDE
Sotogrande is the largest privately owned residential development in Andalusia. Originally a gated community, it is located in the municipality of San Roque and is composed of a 25 square kilometres stretch from the Mediterranean Sea 25 km east of Gibraltar. It takes twenty five minutes to get here by car.
RONDA
Ronda is a mountaintop city set dramatically above a deep gorge, approximately a thirty five minute drive from the apartment. Â
This gorge (El Tajo) separates the city’s circa-15th-century new town from its old town, dating to Moorish rule. Puente Nuevo, a stone bridge spanning the gorge, has a lookout offering views. New town’s Plaza de Toros, a legendary 18th-century bullring, is one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks.
